a And the Grace of the Lord Jefus Chrift, the Love of God, and the Communion of the Holy Ghoft, will be with all the Saints. The STATE of MAN by REDEMPTION. With respect to KNOWLEDGE. b God, who commanded the Light to fhine out of Darkness, hath now fhined in our Hearts;: and called us out of Darkness into his marvellous Light. For we that before had our Understanding darkned, and were alienated from the Life of God, through the Ignorance that was in us, have now received the Knowlege of the Truth. Unto us it is given to know the Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Now is made manifeft to all Nations the Myftery, which was kept fecret fince the World began, even the hidden Wisdom of God, which he ordained before the World, unto our Glory, and which none of the Princes of this World knew. For now we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and be in him that is true, even in his Son Jefus Christ.. This is the true God, and Eternal Life. d. The times of Ignorance God winked at, but now He commandeth all Men every where to repent: because the Day-spring from on high hath vifited us, to give Light to them that fit in Darkness, and in the Shadow of Death; to give 2 Cor. 4.6.. 1 Pet. 2.9. Jefus is the true Light, which lighteth every Man which cometh into the World. Whofoever believeth on him, and followeth him, shall not walk in Darkness, but fhall have the Light of Life. b In every thing we are inriched by him, in all Utterance, and in all Knowledge; the Eyes of our Understanding being inlightned, that we may know what is the Hope of his Calling, and what is the exceeding Greatness of his Power, to us-ward who believe. If any have not the Knowledge of God now it is to their Shame. For all may know the Lord from the leaft to the greateft: The only begotten Son, which is in the Bofom of the Father, he hath declared him. d By the Gospel of Chrift, which is come unto us, as it is in all the World, and wherein we have been inftructed, we may increase in the Knowledge of God, and be filled with the Knowledge of his Will, in all Wisdom, and spiritual Understanding. e The new Man, which we put on, when we are rifen with Chrift, is renewed in Knowledge, after the Image of him that created him. If we continue in his Word, we fhall know the Truth, and the Truth fhall make us free. a He hath affured us, that all manner of Sins fhall be forgiven unto Men, if they repent and believe the Gofpel. Jefus Chrift hath brought Life, and Immortality to Light through the Gospel. c We know that our Labour fhall not be in vain in the Lord; And, that, if we faint not, and are not weary in well-doing, in due feason we fhall reap Life everlasting. d The natural Man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are Foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are fpiritually difcerned; but he that is fpiritual judgeth all things. e The preaching of the Crofs is to them that perish Foolishness; but unto us that are faved, it is the Power of God, and the Wisdom of God. f I count all things but Lofs for the Excellency of the Knowledge of Chrift Jefus my Lord. RIGHTEOUSNESS and HOLINESS. Through the Name of Jefus Chrift, whofoever believeth in him fhall receive Remiffion of Sins in whom we have Redemption, thro' his Blood, even the Forgiveness of Sins, according to the Riches of his Grace, wherein he hath abounded toward us. h God, having raifed up his Son Jefus, fent him to blefs us, in turning away every one of us from his Iniquities. a For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might take away our Sins; deftroy the Works of the Devil; and turn us from the Power of Satan unto God. b Our old Man is crucified with him, that the Body of Sin might be deftroyed, that henceforth we fhould not ferve Sin. The Sting of Death is Sin, and the Strength of Sin is the Law: but Thanks be to God, who giveth us the Victory, through our Lord Jefus Chrift, whofe blood cleanfeth us from all Sin. d By Jefus Chrift, the Son of God, all that believe are juftified, from all things, from which they could not be justified by the Law of Mofes. e As, by the Offence of one, Judgment came upon all Men, to Condemnation, even fo, by the Righteoufness of one, the free Gift came upon all Men, unto Juftification of Life. f But not as the Offence, fo alfo is the free Gift: For if, through the Offence of one, many be dead; much more the Grace of God, and the Gift by Grace, which is by one Man Jefus Chrift, hath abounded unto many; and the free Gift is of many Offences, unto Juftification. 8 There is, therefore, now, no Condemnation to them which are in Chrift Jefus, who walk not after the Flesh, but after the Spirit: For God is the Juftifier of him which believeth in Jefus ; to whom his Faith is counted for Righteousness;: and that freely, by the Grace of God, through the Redemption that is in Jefus Chrift. 1 John 3. 8,5, 8. By which offering, Chrift hath perfected for ever them that are fanctified: So that thofe, who are a Rom. 5. 1. Col. 1. 21. Rom. 5. to, II. b Rom. 5. 19. Rom. 10. 4, 3.
